The bottom line is what counts

We live in a culture where the Bible is made out to seem irrelevant to our lives. It's true, times have changed but in spite of public opinion, the Word has not changed. We still need God and what the Word instills in a man's heart. The world has changed but the Bible is unchanged in a changed world.

You often hear the Bible is outdated and no longer fits our modern culture, but I'm here to shout out, "Our God who is eternal, is still the same." The Word is settled forever in heaven (Psalm 119:89).
In Malachi 3:6, God said, "For I am the Lord, I change not". This "microwave" world we live in, where we want everything instantly, is not how real life works. In the real world, little things come before big things. It may seem like a little thing to read the Bible but there is a big thing that comes from reading it. The Word of God can change our lives if we allow the life of the Word, the Bible, to penetrate our lives and our minds. There is no other way to be faithful in this changed world.
God is our strength against a culture that has diminished the gospel of Jesus Christ. If we want God to use us, we must cultivate faithfulness and dependability and, I believe those character traits come from God.
Jesus said the person who can be trusted with little things will be trusted with greater things. People sometimes think little things don't matter, but they really matter the most. Things like showing up to work on time; actually, working during working hours and helping where you see a need, are little things. The truth is, those things matter greatly if you want promotion. I think it holds true when working for God as well.
Think about the things that you view as trivial. It could be punctuality, honesty, dependability, or something so little as keeping your word. Those things may seem trivial, but if you want results and success, they are not trivial. They are major. No employer values an employee who is not dependable. They may love the person, and give them every chance possible, but they can't put value on them because they are not dependable.
People who are faithful in small things, will be faithful in bigger things. God has not changed. We have. If we are not faithful in little things, we will not be faithful in big things.
The Bible still teaches dependability and faithfulness as a daily practice. There is no substitute for faithfulness. God is very clear about this. In Luke 16:10, he said, "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much."
Our eternal God is still the same. He expects faithfulness. I Peter 1: 24-25 says, "The grass withers, and the flower thereof falleth away: but the word of the Lord endureth forever." We may not understand all the scripture, but this verse is very clear, "The Word is a lamp to our feet, and a light unto our path" (Psalm 119:105). We need His unchanged Word more than ever.
It's easy to fall sleep spiritually, but let's keep alert knowing God is still unchanged in a changed world. The bottom line is what counts. Where we are at the end of our race really matters.
