Spiritual bio hack

It is always fun to learn a new "bio hack". In all my years of checking for good batteries, I heard a bio hack just a couple days ago that I'll use the rest of my life. This hack said to drop your "AA" and "AAA" battery onto a table letting the negative end hit flat. If it bounces, it needs to be replaced. If it doesn't bounce, the battery is good. It really works. I tried it when my husband changed 64 batteries in our automatic blinds yesterday.

That reminded me of how our own lives are somewhat like a battery. If our spiritual battery is low, we bounce around and are going to give out only a small amount of energy, or none at all. But, when our spiritual battery is full, we have enough energy and power to impact life.

You'll remember in Matthew 5:13-14,16 (CSB), Jesus said, "You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt should lose its taste (saltiness), wherewith shall it be salted? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.

"You are the light of the world. A city situated (set) on a hill cannot be hidden. ... In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."

Isn't that like a fully charged battery? When we are fully charged our hearts desire to produce good light; flavorful salt. Our souls are somewhat like a rechargeable battery. The question is how do we recharge when the charge has been depleted by life and disappointment?

What we do know is that spirit must be filled with Spirit. There can be no substitute. We must be filled and refilled with the Spirit of God that keeps us useable and alive.

I know of no other way to be re-filled than to seek God's presence earnestly. In Acts chapters one and two when the disciples needed a spiritual filling, they "continued with one accord in prayer and supplication". Jesus said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all these things (your needs) will be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)

Like a battery that has lost its charge we bounce around until we're refilled. Our task is to "remember the truth". Deep down we all know the only thing that matters is love. Get as close to God as possible through prayer and reading this Word and let Him refill us with His love.
