Kentucky State Police investigate deadly trooper-involved shooting, female also found dead

BARDWELL, Ky. (WSIL) -- State police are investigating a deadly shooting involving a Kentucky State Trooper which occurred on Friday.

Kentucky State Police (KSP) reported the shooting happened on October 18, just after 6:20 p.m. The KSP Critical Response Team is investigating the incident at the request of KSP Post 1.

State police shared preliminary information in the investigation which states KSP Post 1 was notified about a male who allegedly shot his wife. Both deputies with the Carlisle County Sheriff's Office and KSP Troopers responded to a home on County Road 1591 in Carlisle County. Police said they saw a male at the home after they arrived there.

The male was injured and officers started life-saving measures, the report stated. KSP then said the male was taken to a local hospital by ambulance and was later pronounced dead.

No officers were reported injured.

Kentucky State Police stated this is information is based on the preliminary investigation into the incident and could be subject to change as witnesses are interviewed.

KSP also stated officers found a dead female in the home while at the scene. KSP Post 1 is investigating the death of the female.

"KSP has statewide jurisdiction and investigates officer-involved shootings throughout the commonwealth as requested by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. KSP is committed to being transparent while ensuring the integrity of the investigation. To protect the integrity of an ongoing investigation, it is KSP's standard operating procedure not to release specific details until vital witnesses have been interviewed and pertinent facts gathered. Timelines to complete investigations vary based on the complexity of the case," Kentucky State Police stated in the report.
