(WSIL) -- Officials announce the ferry will resume its weekend operations on a reduced schedule while addressing staffing shortages.
Crittenden County Judge-Executive Perry A. Newcom made the announcement on October 29th. The Ohio River Ferry Authority and ferry operators have enacted a temporary schedule.
The Cave-in-Rock ferry allows for transportation between Cave-in-Rock, Illinois and Crittenden County, Kentucky.
Going forward, Saturday and Sunday hours will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. While on weekdays, the ferry will continue to run from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Right now, Ferry owner Lonnie Lewis is looking to hire licensed Western Rivers Pilots with a passenger endorsement.
